Your guide Howard Smith is a certified and experienced tour guide with a wealth of local knowledge that comes from many years of living and working on Tasmania's Cradle Coast region. You will be given insights into many aspects of this area of Tasmania that only comes from personal experience. All tours include light lunch and entry to National Parks.     1. The Wilderness Gallery The Wilderness Gallery, at Cradle Mountain, is a purpose-built gallery showcasing environmental photography. The Gallery is located at the Cradle Mountain Chateau, two-and-a-half hours’ west of Launceston (144 kilometres/90 miles) and ninety minutes from Devonport (83 kilometres/52 miles). The Wilderness Gallery exhibits up to 250 images by some of Australia and the world’s best wilderness and nature photographers. Ten linked galleries— built around an enclosed garden of rocks and native plants—display breathtaking images by photographers working in some of the world’s wildest and most remote places. Scuba divers, rock climbers, kayakers, bushwalkers and expeditioners have all participated in the Gallery’s program of exhibitions.

    1. devils@cradle Explore the mysterious world of the Tasmanian Devil at Devils@Cradle Tasmanian devil sanctuary, northwest Tasmania. It is located just 500 metres from the entrance to the Cradle Mountain National Park, and boasts stunning views of Cradle Mountain. This unique alpine conservation park combines comfort with high quality education and viewing and your closest ever encounter with a Tasmanian devil, guaranteed.

    1. Turning of the Fagus Every autumn, Tasmanians follow the tradition of flocking to locations where the Fagus tree can be found, to witness its spectacular range of autumn colours from rust red through to brilliant gold. Called ‘The Turning of the Fagus’, this stunning sight can only be seen in Tasmania and nowhere else in the world. The autumn turning of the fagus tree occurs in ate April and early May.

Cradle Mountain Visitor Information Centre On the park boundary the visitor centre has an interpretive display, ranger station, park information, walker registration and up-to-date weather reports. Alpine weather changes rapidly always carry waterproof gear, even on summer day walks. There are many superb short walks from the centre and the Dove Lake car park, 14 km further on.
